How to do Aprilaire Humidifier Installation? Aprilaire Humidifier Installation Manual, Step to Step Guide
If you are like me, you have probably had to reinstall your Aprilaire humidifier at least once. It can be a bit of a pain, but it’s not that hard if you know what you’re doing. In this blog post, I’m going to walk you through the process step-by-step so that you can do it yourself next time. Stay dry and healthy!
Step 1.
Aprilaire Humidifier Installation- Turn off your Aprilaire power to the unit at your main circuit breaker box. If you are not sure how to do this then Google is an excellent resource for this question or call a professional electrician. You can also purchase Aprilaire humidifiers with hard-wired power so that they are directly connected to electrical power without the need for a wall switch.
Step 2.
Aprilaire Humidifier Installation- Unplug the drain line from your Aprilaire humidifier and close it with a clamp or a “Y” connector. This will prevent water from spilling everywhere when you remove the unit from your home’s HVAC system. If you have installed an intake hose to siphon air from outside then you can simply disconnect this as well and close up any exterior vent that was open. Again, all of these things are easy to Google if you don’t know how to do them.
Step 3.
Aprilaire Humidifier Installation- Loosen the screws on the metal casing that surrounds your Aprilaire humidifier unit so that they form nice little rows where each screw holds part of the metal grid onto the case but doesn’t completely tighten down. This allows you to remove the grid and the metal casing as a single unit later on without too much trouble.
Step 4.
Aprilaire Humidifier Installation- Use a screwdriver or drill with a Philips head bit to remove all of the screws from the top of your Aprilaire humidifier’s metal case. You can now carefully lift one side of it and slide it off of your unit so that you have easy access to everything inside without having to move around any wiring or anything else because you removed that first.
You also don’t want to disconnect any wiring at this point because the wires are connected in specific ways depending on their function and if you disconnect them back then they will be super-duper hard to connect again later because there is no good way to mark the correct polarity.
Step 5.
Aprilaire Humidifier Installation- Remove the water tank by gently lifting it and pulling it out of the humidifier unit. Be careful not to spill any water out of the tank and onto your floor! If you do, just use a towel to soak it up.
Step 6.
Aprilaire Humidifier Installation- Use a screwdriver or drill with a Phillips head bit to remove all of the screws from the bottom of your Aprilaire humidifier’s metal case. Now, slide the metal case off of the unit so that you can see everything inside. This is where you will be doing most of your work.
Step 7.
Aprilaire Humidifier Installation- Take a look at everything that you see inside your Aprilaire humidifier and try to remember how it all goes back together. It can be a little confusing, but just take your time and you’ll get it. I like to work from the outside in so that I can ensure that everything is properly lined up before I start screwing things back together.
Step 8.
Aprilaire Humidifier Installation- Start by reattaching the water tank. Be very careful not to spill any water while you are doing this! If you do, just use a towel to soak it up.
Next, replace the bottom metal case and make sure that all of the screws are tightened down well. Now, replace the top metal case and make sure that all of the screws are tightened down well. Finally, replace the grid and the metal casing around your Aprilaire humidifier unit and tighten all of the screws.
Step 9.
Turn on your Aprilaire power to the unit at your main circuit breaker box. If you are not sure how to do this then Google is an excellent resource for this question or call a professional electrician. You can also purchase Aprilaire humidifiers with hard-wired power so that they are directly connected to electrical power without the need for a wall switch.
Step 10.
Aprilaire Humidifier Installation- Wait a few hours for your Aprilaire humidifier to start working properly again and then enjoy healthy, comfortable air in your home!
Now that you know how to clean and maintain your Aprilaire humidifier, you can rest easy knowing that it is always doing its job to keep you and your family healthy and comfortable?
